Through the period of May 29 and June 1, there were more emergency department visits for unintentional opioid overdoses than expected in both Elgin and Oxford Counties.

Southwestern Public Health has received anecdotal reports of Naloxone being used more frequently as well as reports of blue fentanyl circulating in the community.

In the event of a suspected overdose, call 911, administer Naloxone, and stay with the individual until emergency services arrive.

If you use substances, don’t use alone, avoid mixing substances, start with a small amount first, and carry Naloxone.
